What is Estia
The Symbol
In the search for the name and symbol of the space, we had to include everything that we and our visitors wanted to feel and experience within it.
We wanted to evoke a strong sense of returning to the Greek idea, to Greek education, the concept of returning to our inner home, an experience our visitors could feel on their very first step into the space.
And then, to connect with the warmth of Greek culture and knowledge, with this symbolic fire that warms the spirit and enlightens the body.
As one traverses these spaces, to have in every corner an experience of spirituality and completion, as one can truly experience this only in this part of the Thessalian land.
And this space here, to warm the heart, to nourish the soul, offering the visitor the sense of peace and inner harmony.
Thus it was born.
The Centaur Cheiron, the eternal symbol of wisdom.
And the Hearth, the living flame that continuously burns in the heart of the home, the temple, the city. The Sacred Center of everything.
Our “Hearth” in Portaria, Pelion.
The Purpose
The Estia is the new multifaceted point on the cultural map of Thessaly and more specifically of Pelion.
Based on the Institute of Mediterranean Culture, a social cooperative enterprise active since 2018, the Estia aims to unite Greek culture with the cultures of the world, to connect the simple and everyday stories of people’s lives from an earlier era with the contemporary individual, to meet his needs and desires, and to contribute to his path to a meaningful life journey.
The Estia seeks ideas, activates actions, enlivens concepts, and transforms societies.
